Thelonious Monk Institute Honors B.B. King - Portraits

Hello my pretty little babies, strap yourselves in as DJ Shae spins the records to the sounds of smoooooth jazz.

We are going to dim the lights, light the candles and take a ride on a fantastic voyage with the great Herbie Hancock and his fellow Headhunters….

Herbie Hancock (& The Headunters): Chameleon

OK party people, I hear you snapping for more. Settle down and open your minds. Our next trip will be courtesy of a yellow submarine. Look out of your portholes… it’s Spyro Gyra! Aah, yeah, what you know about that?

My favorite song by this lovely group is Havana Moonlight, but I don’t believe it’s old enough for our beloved OSF. But don’t fret little babies, we are still going to get our groove on to this little gem right here…

Spyro Gyro: Shaker Song

I hope you enjoyed your ride. Our voyage has ended… next stop… ecstasy… DJ Shae signing off. I’ll see you all here next week, same time, same place, different groove.

Will Smith: Seven Pounds

20th November 2008 by User Imageshaeshae 4 Comments

Will Smith is out and about promoting his latest film “Seven Pounds,” which will be in theaters on December 19th. He poses here with fans while on the red carpet.

Looks like Will had to lose a lot of weight to play this role. He’s been so bulky and muscled up lately, it’s strange seeing him so thin again. This look reminds me of his youthful days playing in Six Degrees of Separation.

Academy Award® nominee Will Smith plays Ben Thomas, a suicidal, guilt-ridden IRS agent with a heavy secret that he attempts correct. He embarks on an extraordinary journey of redemption by trying to change the lives of seven strangers with seven acts that will set him free of his guilt.

Rosario Dawson plays Emily Posa, who he tries to help, but ends up helping to heal his heavy heart. His feelings for her soon complicate his plans.

Also starring: Michael Ealy and Woody Harrelson.

Prince Sued for Breach of Contract

19th November 2008 by User Imageshaeshae 4 Comments

Yesterday, a lawsuit was filed against Prince for failure to assist with marketing for his 3121 perfume. The lawsuit includes his music publisher Universal, and the purple one is in trouble for breach-of-contract by the makers of the fragrance.

Revelations Perfume and Cosmetics Inc., states they spent $2.5 million on the fragrance and which they agreed to pay Universal half of the proceeds, but they claim neither Prince nor Universal have participated in any promotions since the fragrance was launched last year.

Universal spokesman Peter LoFrumento dismisses the lawsuit as, “completely without merit.”

Real Housewives of Atlanta

 [L - R: NeNe, DeShawn, Sheree, Kim & Lisa]2008 BET Hip-Hop Awards - Red Carpet

Although I did not catch the season from the beginning, I find myself surprised that I have watched so many eipisodes of this show.

I guess I’m still shocked at how they are portraying Atlanta. *sigh* Not that there isn’t drama in every city, but these ladies are claiming to be ATL’s elite and it just seems like a show full of paid former groupies and gold diggers.

Sorry, I had to say it. Most of the ladies are known solely for who they married and have based their life off of what that marriage allowed them to do. What were they doing before the marriages is what I’d like to know.

With the nation in such a financial crisis, it’s almost sickening to watch these ladies throw so much money into extravagant parties that seem to flop, and to spend so many wasted hours shopping for things that will mean nothing if they were to come upon financial hardships. You would think they’d spend more time mending broken fences or something more constructive.

I didn’t watch the Real Housewives of Orange County (or New York, didn’t they have a NY season too?) so I can’t comment much on those women, but if it is anything like the Atlanta season I’m glad I missed them.

If you like drama-filled reality shows you have probably already tuned in to see DeShawn, Kim, Sheree, NeNe and Lisa in all their high fashion, weaved out, party loving, charity auction disaster, fashion show reject glory.

And after all is said and done, I am still going to watch the season finale.

What? A hit show is a hit show. :p
